Cooking generates vapours, a mixture of grease, moisture and odours. Rangehoods make cooking more pleasant by filtering out the fat
molecules, conducting away the steam and neutralising smells to keep the room fresh and odour-free.
Grease is trapped in the 10-layer stainless steel filter.
Extraction mode hoods transport moisture out of the room.
The Active AirClean charcoal filter neutralises odours.
Grease
It is difficult to cook without oils and fats. They are transporters of flavours and, particularly when frying vegetables, meat and fish, act as a heat
conductor. The downside is that they often sizzle and spit, releasing fat molecules into the air. If they are not filtered out, they settle on furniture and
items in the kitchen and living space as grease and form a sticky, unhygienic film. The soiled surfaces can only be properly cleaned with great effort.
Miele stainless steel grease filters
Miele rangehoods are fitted with 10-layer metal grease filters. The outer layer and frame are made of stainless steel. The grease filters can be cleaned
in a dishwasher and do not fade or discolour so that they continue to look good for a long time.

Moisture
Pasta, rice, potatoes, vegetables and soups are all cooked using water. At 100 °C water becomes steam and rises. Once steam saturation is
reached in the air, the excess steam settles on walls and windows as condensation. Moisture in rooms encourages the formation of mould and is
detrimental to health.
In extraction mode, excess moisture is transported out of the room. With recirculation hoods it is a good idea to open a window fully for a
short period of time after cooking so that moisture escapes and does not condense in the room.
Condensation on walls and cool surfaces is significantly reduced by using an extractor hood during cooking.
By removing moisture from the room it cannot settle on walls and other surfaces as condensation.
A damp, unpleasant ambient envronment is prevented.
Odours
Mmm, that smells good! Odours play a very important role in cooking. However, after cooking, or even in other living areas such as the bedroom,
the otherwise appetising smells can be unpleasant. Depending on their origins, the odours that form from cooking are made up of different molecules.
If they are not neutralised, odours can cling to textiles for a long time.
Active AirClean charcoal filter
In addition to grease filters, Miele recirculation rangehoods feature a NoSmell active charcoal filter which not only captures the odours, but neutralises them.
This means that when you switch the rangehood on the following day any lingering smells from yesterday's cooking are kept to a minimum.
